Qingdao Workers Owed Over 600,000 Yuan, X Account Says

Interior plasterers at a construction project in Qingdao were owed more than 600,000 yuan in wages, prompting several workers to go onto a rooftop to demand payment on October 21, according to the Chinese-language X account Li Laoshi Is Not Your Teacher (@whyyoutouzhele).

The account placed the incident at the Ocean Vitality Zone project in Huangdao district, Shandong province. Its Qingdao wage claim remains a single social-media account’s report, not an independently established account of the incident.

Wages allegedly unpaid since project completion

The post said the project had been completed at the end of 2024 but that several interior plasterers remained unpaid when it posted in October 2026. It put the combined unpaid wages at more than 600,000 yuan, without specifying an exact worker count, individual amounts or the pay periods involved.

The account associated the project with China Construction Second Engineering Bureau. That description does not establish which employer or subcontractor engaged the workers, who was contractually required to pay them, or which entity bears responsibility for any unpaid wages.

Rooftop protest reported; outcome unknown

The account described workers going onto a rooftop to press their wage demands. Its wording does not establish that anyone jumped or was injured. The available account gives no confirmed outcome for the protest or subsequent wage payments.

The allegations have not been independently corroborated. No authenticated worker statements, contracts, payment records or responses from the project parties or authorities were available for this report, and the accompanying imagery was not independently examined.
